Today, Ukraine celebrates the memory of the first saints of the Kyiv Church – the martyrs Borys and Hlib, baptized Roman and David. These are the first saints whom the people proclaimed as holy martyrs, feeling their special role and mission in the spirituality of our Church.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the UGCC said this in his video address. He records these video messages every day, since the beginning of the active phase of the war.

“Svyatopolk, called the “accursed”, murdered his brothers in the struggle for the Kyiv throne. The Russian president publicly ridiculed the feat of these first Kyiv martyrs. And today, unfortunately, it is Russia that is again committing the sin of Svyatopolk the Accursed,” stated the Head of the UGCC.
