“Church is our mother, wishing to bring us together. Only those who rush to get under its wing can be themselves, can grow and learn to distinguish between good and evil and be truly protected before dangers of the world”, instructed Head of Church in his homily.

His Beatitude thanked teachers of the school and those who do everything what is possible to promote the school. “I know that it is not an easy task for a catholic school to exist, in USA especially. You need to work a lot, so a school can function and, moreover, give a good education”, said the Major Archbishop.

He also thanked cordially students’ parents and mothers. “I know: you put in a lot of efforts to teach your children speaking Ukrainian language and bring them here to school. Caring about education of your children – you care about the future of our Church, our nation and Ukrainian community here, in Chicago”, His Beatitude Sviatoslav emphasized and added that it’s not just a parochial school but a very important school for a whole Ukrainian community in Chicago.

Referring to the students, His Beatitude Sviatoslav stated that it is very important to study at school and get good marks. “But what is most is to learn to become a good person, know to distinguish between good and evil. We ought to avoid what is bad and do what is good. You need to do it to those who are around you. That’s how you become good by doing good to others”.

Young choir singers of Ukrainian school were singing in three languages: Ukrainian, English and Italian.

A spiritual mentor encouraged to promote school, go beyond the limits and open it to other communities and peoples.
