The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is ready to provide during the COVID-19 pandemic not only the churches, but also the property owned by the Church: rehabilitation and medical centers, hospitals. It was said by Fr. Lubomyr Javorski, Patriarchal Economist of the UGCC, in a special video address.

On Sunday of the Veneration of the Holy Cross the Father and the Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, expressed the readiness of the Church to provide the church space in order to best serve and save people. The patriarchal economist explained that the Church has many resources such as property, buildings etc that can be used during the pandemic. The UGCC has rehab centers, the Patriarchal House, and other property which can be used for the needs of people.

“These facilities can not only be converted into hospitals, but also provided for the physicians who are far away from their workplace. The church is also ready to provide rooms for the people who come back from abroad and have no place to spend their quarantine time,” he said.

"The primary purpose of the Church is pastoral care," emphasized the priest.

He recalled how during the outbreak of Russia's war against Ukraine the UGCC mobilized its military chaplains to support the Ukrainian army with prayer, spirit, and numerous humanitarian assistance. "Today, at this tragic time for the whole world, we have medical chaplains who are ready to serve and are already working in hospitals," added the patriarchal economist.

According to him, the UGCC also operates an anti-crisis center to coordinate the actions of the metropolitanates, eparchies and exarchates of the Church in the best possible way.
