The Father and Head of the UGCC continues to visit parishes and monasteries of the UGCC in the Kyiv region and in the central part of Ukraine to support his faithful in these difficult times. He has recently visited the monastery of St. Anthony of Pechersk of the Studite Rite in Obukhiv, Kyiv region.

During the visit, His Beatitude Sviatoslav spoke with monks and displaced persons who found the shelter within the monastery.

“The present day is very significant, considering that despite the war His Beatitude found time to visit the monastery. Having support of the Head of the Church during the war creates a special mood, gives a special inspiration and strength”, Fr. Illya Mamchak thanked His Beatitude Sviatoslav for the visit on behalf of all monks of the monastery.

The visit ended with a joint prayer in the monastery church of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On April 1, 2017, His Beatitude Sviatoslav consecrated the cornerstone of the construction of this church and on April 7, 2022 on the Feast of the Annunciation its consecration was planned. However, due to the war, the consecration had to be postponed indefinitely.
