The head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, in a letter to the chairman of the Conference of Bishops of Poland, Archbishop Stanislaw Gondecki, thanked Polish Catholics for their prayers for peace in Ukraine, calling it an extremely important signal not only for Ukraine but for the whole of Europe to be together at this very alarming time of the threat of war from Russia.

"Allow me to sincerely thank you for the solidarity expressed through the appeal to priests and bishops across Poland to pray for peace in Ukraine," the UGCC Primate said in his letter.

In his opinion, we, as Christians, can effectively resist an ideology that promotes hatred and hostility when spiritually united in prayer.

"I express my gratitude to you, Your Excellency, and the Polish Episcopal Conference for all the manifestations of spiritual connection, which is great support for the anxious Ukrainian society. The current tense political situation requires our episcopates to take bold actions at various levels of church life," the letter of the Рead of the Church reads.

"Personally and on behalf of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC," the head of the UGCC continued, "I thank you for your kindness and support. I sincerely congratulate you in the spirit of brotherly love. May the care, mercy and grace of a loving father rest tirelessly in the Catholic Church of Poland."

Archbishop Stanislaw Gondecki, Chairman of the Conference of bishops of Poland, called on priests from all over Poland to pray for peace in Ukraine.

"I sincerely ask all priests in Poland to pray for peace in Ukraine through the mediation of bishops," Archbishop Stanislaw Gondecki said. "I ask you to chant a prayer of supplication on Sunday, as well as on weekdays, and pray in this intention, which is very close to the hearts of Poles and is necessary due to the time in which we now live," the website of the Polish Episcopal Conference reports.
