His Beatitude Sviatoslav expressed his condolences to the faithful of Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of New Westminster who suffered from natural disaster and assured in prayer and support

His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the UGCC is praying for clergy, monks and laypeople of New Westminster eparchy and all who suffered from torrential rains, floods and landslides in British Columbia and western Canada. The Head of the UGCC writes about it in his letter to the most Reverend David Motiuk, apostolic administrator of New Westminster eparchy.

The letter states that over the last few weeks we could see the news with images of the devastating effect on the lives of many people in British Columbia caused by recent torrential rains, floods and landslides.

“Having seen the images of the floods in the Fraser Valley, I recalled my own journeys from Vancouver to Kelowna through that very same area and over Coquihalla highway in August 2012. I was fascinated by astonishing natural beauty of British Columbia with its farmlands and majesty of the mountains. Today I am especially bonding with those who are suffering are suffering today because of magnitude of this past summer’s forest fires and now followed with the destruction from the recent floods”.

In the letter, His Beatitude Sviatoslav is asking Bishop David to convey to the clergy, monks and laypeople that among ongoing challenges brought on by COVID-19 and necessity of renewing homes, infrastructures in the cold winter weather, he is praying to our Lord to send them and people of British Columbia His comfort and grace.
