From the Head of the UGCC: The blood of innocent children is on the hands of the criminals who began this war

The Primate congratulated Fr. Yuriy Lohaza, who is completely engulfed in the siege in Slavutych, and assured him that “he is in our prayers.”

The Head of the Church noted that we are entering the fourth week of this enormous tragedy of our people and our country; however, there is a feeling that Ukraine is beginning to win.  “Not only has the Ukrainian army arrested the enemy’s advances, but it has also begun to counterattack. We have begun to liberate our cities and villages, we are freeing our Ukrainian land,” stated His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

At the same time, he noted, there is talk of this being a very dangerous point in this war.  “The enemy is beginning to engage in the tactics of all-out war, recklessly destroying our cities and villages, bombing everything that can be destroyed,” noted the Primate, emphasizing: “but Ukraine is fighting! Ukraine believes in its victory!”

His Beatitude Sviatoslav pointed out that the human heart cannot but be in anguish regarding the children of Ukraine who are suffering from the war. According to the international organization UNICEF’s statistics, every second, a child in Ukraine becomes a refugee. Almost 100 children have died as a result of bombing, according to official data. An even greater number has been wounded. The blood of innocent children is on the hands of the criminals who began this war,” the Head of the Church emphasizes.

“That is why today we are praying for the children of Ukraine. We are battling for their future. We are fighting for peace and a peaceful sky precisely for them,” he assures us.
