From the Head of the UGCC on Day 46 of the war: Today, we sacrifice our Sunday Liturgy for the victory of good over evil in Ukraine

“On this Sunday, I am calling upon all Christians who hasten to their churches, to pray for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.” His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, made this appeal in his daily address on the 46th day of Russia's war against Ukraine.

The Head of the Church noted that the Ukrainian people are aware that the war is not only against government structures or a segment of Ukrainian society. This is a total war to destroy the entire Ukrainian nation. We see this in the aftereffects of the actions of our land’s occupiers. His Beatitude Sviatoslav noted that heinous crimes perpetrated by the occupiers in Ukraine are brought to light every day.

Today, the Archbishop recalled the circumstances that, according to him, shocked all the faithful. "In Chernihiv region, in the village of Lukashivka, in the Orthodox Church of the Ascension, which is an architectural monument, the occupiers set up their headquarters. They desecrated the Orthodox Church. People were interrogated there and tortured. And today around this church we find dozens of bodies of innocently killed Ukrainians…" -- commented the Head of the UGCC.

“Lord,” pleaded the Head of the Church, “help us to respect our relationship with You, help us to be good children of Yours, help us to celebrate this holy day as You expect us to.”
