Blessing of Ukraine: In St. Sofia of Kyiv representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations prayed for Ukraine

On August 24, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence a prayer for Ukraine was held on the grounds of National Reserve “Sofia Kyivska” in the presence of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife.

The representatives of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church were His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the UGCC and bishop Borys Gudziak, archbishop and metropolitan of Philadelphia.

 Among the rest who came to St. Sophia Cathedral to pray for Ukraine were Heads of other Churches, particularly: metropolitan Epiphany, the Head of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine, metropolitan Onufry, archbishop Mieczysław Mokrzycki, deputy head of the Conference of Roman Catholic Bishops of Ukraine, Jewish and Muslims religious leaders.

All Heads of Churches said a prayer for Ukraine and thanked God for the gift of achieved independence and freedom.

Later Heads of Churches went to Maidan Nezalezhnosti where they participated in festivities dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence, hence to Verkhovna Rada for a solemn sitting of the parliament.
