Letter of sympathy of His Beatitude Lubomyr to relatives and friends of the persons who died in a car crash in the Lviv Region

I just learned that this morning on the way to a festive pilgrimage to the monastery of the Basilian Fathers in Krekhiv a car accident happened in which seven persons perished, and others were injured. To the families of those who so unexpectedly finished their earthly life I wish to express sincere regret. For you, dear ones, what happened fully look likes a complete disaster. But let us look at what happened with the eyes of our Christian faith. The Lord God, Who alone knows all and as a good Father wishes the best for all of us, on the way to a holy place called those faithful pilgrims, ended their physical pilgrimage, to be with Him forever in eternity. Let this idea strengthen you, calm your eyes and hearts, full of tears.  I am united with you in prayer.

Information of zaxid.net On May 24, 2009, near Lviv a truck collided with a passenger bus with pilgrims. Seven persons perished at the accident side.  A «Bohdan» bus was transporting 24 pilgrims from the village of Stare Selo, Pustomyty District, to the monastery in the village of Krekhiv, Zhovkva District. As reported by the Regional Patrol Police [DAI], the cause of the disaster was that the «Reno»  truck driver fell asleep at the wheel.  The law enforcement authorities are conducting an inquiry.
