«Children’s Gospel» united the largest main traditional Christian Churches of Ukraine

On October 5, 2009, in Kyiv, took place the presentation of the book “Children’s Gospel: Stories about Jesus.” The book, which was issued by the publishing house “A-BA-BA-GA-LA-MA-HA,” was presented by representatives of the UOC-MP, the UOC-KP and the UGCC, and also the director of the publishing house Ivan Malkovych and the main artist Kost' Lavro. Representatives of the churches took part in the presentation not only because of the religious essence of the book, but also because its publication was blessed by the heads of the main traditional Churches of Ukraine. In addition, in the process creating this project of Ivan Malkovych, representatives of these confessions cooperated closely with him.  “It is extremely important that Ukrainian children will read the Eternal Book without distinctions for church confessions, because these young readers will have control over how quickly in Ukraine – the cradle of Christianity of Central-Eastern Europe – the unified Ukrainian national church will appear. In fact, Jesus Christ prayed for the unity of all Christians in the Gethsemane Garden,” states the annotation. “With this Gospel for children we take another step for the realization of the teaching of Jesus Christ: ‘Do not forbid for the children to come to me.’ This book through the stories and high-quality and colorful illustrations demonstrates the very serious attitude in proclaiming the Good News to children,” said Bishop Joseph (Milyan), the auxiliary bishop of the Kyivan Archeparchy. “It was easy and inspiring for me to work with the bishops and fathers. I believe that its readers will be those who in the future will make steps toward a unified national church,” Ivan Malkovych remarked. The first publication of “Children’s Gospel” had 5 thousand copies. As the publisher assures, the book will be sold in bookstores at a good price. “It is not a book we want to make a profit on. For us what is important is that it is read. Even with a 50% mark-up the cost of book will be just over 40 UAH,” Ivan Malkovych added.
