On March 27, by prayer services in the Cathedral Church of Ternopil began the celebrations of the Youth Day. The event took place on the benediction of Bishop Vasyl (Semenyuk), the eparch of Ternopil-Zborivs, and the organizers were the Commission on Matters of the Youth, the Ternopil Patriarch Joseph Slipyj Spiritual Seminary, and Obnova. The next day, on the feast of Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem, a theatrical procession began from the Dormition of the Mother of God Church. Leading the procession was Jesus on a donkey, escorted by his disciples. Seminarians recreated Biblical scenes of the meeting of Jesus Christ with Zacchaeus and the banishment of merchants from the temple. Near the church Bishop Vasyliy welcomed the procession, who then celebrated the festive Hierarchal Liturgy. Talking to the youth, the bishop called to follow Christ through confession, peace, and joy: “Let’s not be afraid to be the students of Jesus, because when we are with Christ, life becomes a road of hope…We have to understand that evil keeps the destructive force, but that never triumphs. The truth of Christ liberates us, Jesus Christ never disappoints us and we can always trust Him.” After the liturgy Fr. Andrey Ivan Hovera, head of the Commission on Matters of Youth, and the representatives of youth eparchial communities thanked the hierarch for spiritual guidance and prayer.
