On the occasion of the World Day of Social Justice, which was celebrated on February 20, the Secretary-General of the UN, Mister Ki-moon, called the world publicity to bring actively to life a strategy aimed at providing social justice for all. Social justice is a fundamental principle of peaceful and happy existence, both in countries themselves and among them. The UN supports the principles of social justice, propagating equality among women and men, and the rights of native nations and immigrants, and assists in the providing of social justice, overcoming obstacles which rise up before people because of their differences in sex, age, ethnic and religious belonging, culture or the presence of a disability. For the United Nations the aspiration of social justice for all lies in the center of a global mission to assist in the development of and respect for human dignity. Sadly, social justice still remains an unattainable dream for an enormous part of humanity. Extreme poverty, hunger, discrimination and violation of human rights even now inflict painful wounds against the greatest values of humanity and society. For the establishment of social justice the ecological challenges of our days show a substantial danger. This year the World Day of Social Justice, proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 2007, is being celebrated for the first time. It is celebrated in order to underline the importance of social justice as an ethical imperative which has to determine all our efforts.
