What is happening today in our country, some historians have called a miracle over the Dnipro. Just like the miracle on the Vistula almost a hundred years ago, when the Polish army stopped the invasion of the red horde and defended independence, the right to the existence of a revived Polish state. His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the UGCC said in his daily address on the thirteenth day of the war.

“Today, that miracle over the Dnipro is created by our Ukrainian army, stopping the invasion of the northern neighbor, who stepped on our land, bringing destruction and death, trying to destroy the freedom-loving Ukrainian people”, the Major Archbishop pointed out.

The Head of the Church emphasized that we surprised the world with the power of love for our Motherland, the power of unity of the Ukrainian people. "We are performing a miracle of people who show their love of freedom to the whole world. And it fascinates the whole world," he said.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav also said that today, March 8, Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, special envoy of Pope Francis, is arriving in Lviv. Thus, the Apostolic Capital begins a special humanitarian mission in Ukraine.

“We want to meet our guest with dignity and help him see the wounds of Ukraine, help, as the Holy Father asks him, to touch the wounds of Christ in the body of the Ukrainian people wounded by the war. We want to go with him to where it is the most difficult today”, the Head of the UGCC stated.

According to him, today Ukraine is in a situation when millions of people have moved, when our women and children are forced to leave their homes. "And the Church is and will be with its people. It will be in places where it is the most difficult, where our presence is needed the most, to embrace these people, to serve them, to soothe their suffering caused by the war”, His Beatitude Sviatoslav assures.

The Head of the Church thanked all those who have been expressing active love and support for the Ukrainian people and open their arms to the victims of Russian aggression. "I would like to especially thank the Catholics of Moldova, in particular Bishop Anton Coșa, Bishop of Chișinău, who organized the support and reception of our emigrants, our refugees who found themselves in the lands of Moldova. Your Excellency, thank you very much!

His Beatitude Sviatoslav assured in his prayer for the Ukrainian army, for those who defend peace in Ukraine, for those who defend our civilians, who suffer the most from Russian aggression. He called on everyone to pray for Ukraine.

In his video message, the Head of the UGCC also addressed the world community: “Do everything you can to stop this madness! Because today, in front of our eyes, Ukraine is being crucified. There is no a single night when bombs do not rain down on civilians. Let us stop the war together! Let us be instruments of God's peace in our time together!”
