U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops prayed in the Patriarchal Cathedral in Kyiv

As we reported earlier, a delegation of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops was in Ukraine. Bishop Blase Cupich, Bishop of Spokane (WA, USA), Member Subcommittee Aid to the Church in Eastern Europe AJC, and Dr. Declan Murphy, associate director of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Office of National Collections and director of the Collection for Aid to the Church in Central and Eastern Europe, visited Ukraine for 12 days. On Sunday, October 23, the guests attended the Divine Liturgy, headed by Bishop Bohdan (Dziurakh), at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv. At the end of the Liturgy, Bishop Bohdan thanked the delegation and all Catholics in the U.S. for having "remembered us during the dark decades of persecution by the communist regime, for not forgetting about us when the Church came out from the catacombs and began to revive its structures, and for being ready to continue to walk with us the way of prayer. In this way, you have helped us to experience God's love and care and show us that we belong to a single spiritual family –the Holy Universal Church." In his turn, Bishop Blase, sharing his impressions of Ukraine, said: "These days I saw a new spring. I saw the resurrection of Christ. So when I return to my fellow bishops, my brothers in faith in the United States, I will tell them that Christ is risen and is alive. Like those who removed Jesus from the cross and laid him in the tomb, believing that he was dead, saw that he was resurrected, and we too saw that Christ is risen in the church here in Ukraine, where we see new life and development of the church. Christ is risen! Indeed He is risen! Amen! "
