Through the initiative of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church and under the patronage of its Head, His Beatitude Lubomyr, charitable concerts of popular music “With Faith and Love” are taking place from September 7 to 22 in 12 cities of Ukraine. Further details were given at a press conference in UNIAN to journalists. His Beatitude Lubomyr, Natalia Sums’ka, folk artist of Ukraine and laureate of the National premium of Taras Shevchenko, Oleh Sobchuk, leader of group «S.K.A.Y.» as well as Serhiy Arkhypchuk, producer of the song cathedral, all spoke at the conference. Serhiy Arkhypchuk reminded everyone that the academic concerts that took place in May of this year under the same name were largely successful. The second round of concerts will tour through cities in 6 regions of Ukraine: Volhyn’, Rivne, Chernivtsi, Ternopil’, Ivano-Frankivs’k and Lviv.  His Beatitude Lubomyr is convinced that these concerts are “medications for illnesses” of modern society and that is why there is the intention to appeal to as many age groups as possible as well as people from different faiths. If the May concerts, that featured mostly classical music, appealed to seniors, it is predicted that the September concerts will draw much younger crowds – “the junior public” – including those that are young in spirit. There are plans to organize concerts for children in the future. “We made sure that the concerts in May included music that was very soothing and relaxing for people. People perceived it as a balsam for their soul. This type of experience is especially important today because of the situation we live in – the period of the economic crisis as well as other problems – which is causing a lot of anxiety for people,” explained the Head of the UGCC. Thus, these concerts are the Church’s attempt to present to people a “relaxing balsam for the soul.” “That despite their hectic schedules, they can go deep within themselves and experience internal rest, internal satisfaction, to truly feel their own essence of self, which will ultimately give them a spiritual rest and uplift them,” which according to His Beatitude, is a main goal that the UGCC strives to attain. As reported by S. Arkhypchuk, the group that will take part incdlue: «Pikkardiys’ka tertia», «Druha rika», «S.K.A.Y.», «Gudimov», as well as the performers: Taras Petrynenko, Tetyana Horobets’, leader of group, «Mandry» Foma. The group «Horgisheli» specially wrote a psalm which will be presented at these concerts. The master of ceremonies of the concerts will be the well known actress, Olga Sums’ka, and the sports journalist Ihor Miroshnychenko. Invitations will be given at parishes of the UGCC and youth organizations and communities. For each invitation, there is a suggested donation to the Church ranging from 20 to 50 UAH. As explained at the conference, the money collected for the May and September concert will go towards the completion of the building of the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv. During the academic concerts in May, about 800 thousand of UAH was collected.
