UGCC representatives from thirty Archeparchies, Eparchies and ecclesial centers in America, Europe, Asia and Australia gathered together in the Brazilian city of Prudentopolis for the V session of the Patriarchal Sobor (Council) on religious life in the UGCC. The official opening of the Sobor took place on 31 August in a parish church of Basilian Fathers. The Council meetings will be held in the former novitiate chapel of Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate. In his greeting speech, His Beatitude Sviatoslav noted that the delegates of the Sobor would try to reflect upon what the monastic life is about in our Church, what it should be like and what the Church expects of religious people. “This assembly is a good opportunity to exchange ones experience and put into the center of attention of the whole Church vocation to religious life” – remarked the Head of the UGCC.
