UGCC Head greeted the newly elected President of the Polish Episcopal Conference

His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), UGCC Head, greeted the Archbishop of Poznań, Stanisław Gądecki, with his election as the President of the Polish Episcopal Conference.

“May the trust granted to you by the Bishops of Poland harvest good fruits for the Church, and the gifts and talents with which you were endowed by God, assist you to build unity between the clergy and the faithful who in their goodness and respect will support you in your service,” stated the hierarch in his greeting letter.

UGCC Major Archbishop assured the new President of the Polish Episcopal Conference of his prayers for him and added that he respects him and hopes for further cooperation between UGCC and the Catholic Church of Poland “with the goal of deepening Polish-Ukrainian reconciliation.”

According to Radio Vatican, the 364^th plenary meeting of the Polish Episcopal Conference which took place on March12-13, 2014, besides choosing a president also reviewed the issue of the position of families in Poland and issues related with the preparation to the Worldwide Day of Youth, which is planned for 2016 in Cracow.
