UGCC Department on Issues of Ecology is conducting a competition on Responsibility for Creation

The ecological competition on Responsibility for Creation has begun. UGCC Ecology Department is conducting the third annual contest on the occasion of the Day of God the Creator (September 1/14), which Christians in the whole world note as a day of prayer and responsibility for the natural environment.

The goal of the competition is nurturing and spreading awareness of the Christian responsibility for the world created by God – nature.

In the context of the Year of Faith and the commemoration of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus –Ukraine, the contest presents a wonderful opportunity to contemplate more deeply the eternal truth that God the Creator and God the Savior are one and the same and that bearing witness to the authentic Christian faith and life in Christ is also our responsible stance towards the world created in Him – nature.

The contest is being conducted in five categories: prayer, poem, sermon, contemplation -catechization and drawings  (written works have to be no more than 2 pages (A4), font TimesNewRoman, size -14; spacing: 1.15).

Rules of the contest:

  1. Thematic appropriateness: works have to have a logical conclusion and express an awareness of the Christian responsibility for the world created by God – nature.
  2. Clear specifications:
  1. Name of category
  2. Title of work
  3. Surname and name
  4. Age and occupation (students need to specify school and year)
  5. Priests have to specify parish and eparchy
  6. Address;
  7. Telephone;
  8. Works have to be submitted by October 1, 2013 to:

Best works will be posted on the site of UGCC Department of Ecology:  www.ecoburougcc.org.ua and will also be published in a separate volume; Contest winners will receive special certificates and ecology prizes.
