Today, the world does not believe in good words, but only in example and personal experience, Head of the UGCC on Thomas Sunday

May the way of faith be a call, an invitation for everyone who wants to be a witness of the risen Christ in the third millennium. Because today the world does not believe in good ideas or words. We believe only when we have experienced it in our personal spiritual life. His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, spoke about this in his sermon on St. Thomas Sunday in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ

We know from the Holy Gospel, says the Head of the Church, that Christ was with His disciples for forty days after the Resurrection. He was with them, confirming them in faith. Those forty days after Easter are no less important to Christians than the forty days of Lent, during which we prepare to meet the risen Christ. For during that Easter time, the Lord seemed to have given a profound answer to an important question: who is a Christian?

The Apostle Paul says: If Christ has not been raised, your faith is in vain. "This belief in the Resurrection by seeing the risen Christ was the next path for His disciples,” says the preacher.

Where can we meet the risen Christ today? Where can we experience a meeting with Him? The apostle John gives us the answer: in His Body, which is the Church. Those seven Holy Sacraments of Christ's Church are the moment when the Lord Himself comes to me through the closed doors of my world.

“The Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist is a privileged opportunity to touch the Body of our Savior. For we partake of the living, resurrected, glorified Body and Blood of our Lord God in the form of bread and wine. It was the Eucharist, the breaking of bread for forty days after the Resurrection of Christ, that was the privileged moment when a disciple could meet his risen Savior,” said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

"May the Lord help each of us," the spiritual leader wished, "to overcome our own unbelief. May the way of faith be a call, a challenge, an invitation for everyone who wants to be a witness of faith in the third millennium. And only then, like the Apostle Thomas, we will tell ourselves and the world: we have seen the Risen One present among us, He is our Lord and our God."
