The Head of the UGCC gave lay people a task for the next ten days

I am asking you to deeply experience these ten days of anticipating Pentecost. The Head and Father of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church His Beatitude Sviatoslav said during his homily at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ on Ascension Day.

Today we are starting a special period before the descent of the Holy Spirit, “with the power of what the sermon, mission and saving grace of the Lord will be carried out through His disciples”, told His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

Awaiting the Holy Spirit we have to pray and contribute to spreading Gospel and preaching of Jesus among people in particularly modern world. “Within these ten days everyone has to take a very special responsibility on themselves”, the Major Archbishop assumes.

First of all, we have to pray for those who do not believe in God and do not have a clear aim in view. Then we need to support with our prayer those who carry out a missionary work of the Church, mainly priests, monks, nuns and laity and support their mission with our donations. And apart from that we ought to pray for newly established communities and parishes of our Church, realizing the necessity of this mission.

According to the Major Archbishop the current Decade of the Missionary will be daily conducted by devout Christian families.
