Pro-Life March held in Donetsk

On the Day of Children’s Defense, representatives of different churches of the city of Donetsk participated in a pro-life march for the right of every unborn child on earth. The organizer of the walk was the church Word of Life at led by Senior Bishop Leonid Padun. Representatives of the UGCC such as Fr. Vasyl Pantelyuk and Fr. Volodymyr Rakoveckiy and Archbishop of Donetsk and Mariupol the UOC-KP Serhiy also took part in the event. The pro-life march has been held in Donetsk for already more than eight years. There were more than 600 adults and youth with small flags with the words Stop Abortion. During the walk the participants of the event distributed to the residents of the city informative materials which called to protect the children from sin in the world: murder, violence, treason, indifference, cruelty, filth.  Unity and harmony of ideas in the general fight for the life of unborn children and hope that this march and joint prayers will preserve lives for not one child were voiced during the speeches of the representatives of all churches “We are pro-life, because God is pro-life!” Bishop Leonid Padun proclaimed. Vasyl Pantelyuk pointed out the frightful statistics – 30 million abortions since Ukraine has been independent. “The blood of these children creates a heavy weight on all people of Ukraine. With the stopping of abortions we will be able to correct the demographic situation in the country which guarantees subsequent development and flourishing of our state,” noted Fr. Vasyl In his speech, Archbishop Serhiy stressed that no child is a stranger – Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, every child is a gift from God, and the fight against abortion is our general opposition to devil.  The march was completed on the central square of the city, where the children’s collective of the church Word of Life and students of the private school Rostok performed for the participants of the event and Donetsk residents.
