Project of the conception of evangelization to be the evangelistic manifesto of the UGCC

The head of Patriarchal Commission on Matters of Evangelization, Bishop Taras (Senkiv), stated that the project of the conception of evangelization is the document that will be become the evangelistic manifesto of the UGCC at the academic conference that completed its work on June 30, 2010. “The results are difficult to evaluate because this was foremost a working meeting during which we tried to reread and discuss every sentence of the text in order to find an expression of the conception. The task of the project is to clearly express the consciousness of the church, its relation to the past, to the present, and to the future,” explains the hierarch. The organizers of the event stated that there are quite a few problems which need to be worked out for such work is being done for the first time. A lot of work is going into creating a base of Ukrainian theological terminology on evangelization that will be used in the future. Also no less effort needs to be put toward defining the areas of evangelistic activity, the future and of long-term tasks of the church, and methods of their realization. After revisions and alterations, the project will be given to the Patriarchal Synod, which will take place between September 2 and 9 of this year. “There is little time, but the basis of the text of the conception is already ready. Currently we will take it to the court of the Permanent Synod. We are taking into account the present comments and will listen to future comments, because to create a perfect document is unrealistic. But we aim to do something specific that will help us further our work. This is only the beginning of our work...,” said the head of the patriarchal commission.
