Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelization presented in the Vatican

On October 12, 2010, the Apostolic Letter Motu Proprio “Ubicumque et semper” (Always and everywhere) was presented at a press conference in the Vatican. In the Apostolic Letter, Pope Benedict XVI formally established the Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelization The presentation was led by the president of the newly created dicastery Archbishop Rino Fisichella.

In the Apostolic Letter, Pope Benedict XVI formally established the Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelization The presentation was led by the president of the newly created dicastery Archbishop Rino Fisichella. Pontifical Council Benedict XVI announced he was establishing the new office on June 28 before he led an evening prayer service at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. On June 30 it was announced that the pope had selected Archbishop Rino Fisichella as the head of the new office. The task of Pontifical Council is to search for answers to the calls of secularization in the whole world, in particular, in Christian countries with the most secularization. In the Apostolic Letter, the pope underlines that the church always and everywhere considered evangelization its first task. Benedict XVI wants the new Pontifical Council to promote the Catechism of the Catholic Church. According to the pope, the council will deepen the theological and pastoral content of the new evangelization and will be instrumental in distributing and studying the doctrine of the Universal Hierarch while cooperating with other bodies of the Roman Curia and Episcopal Conferences and using modern forms of communication.
