Plastuns (scouts) will conduct various events to honor the youths who perished in the battle at Kruty

On January 29 as part of the youth initiative «Glory to the heroes!,» the event «Remember Kruty!» starts. To honor the 300 youth, senior plastuns [Ukrainian scouts] will conduct a one-day fast and field games for children devoted to the events of January 1918. From January 28 at 21.00 to January 30 at 6.00  there will be a one-day fast in memory of the fallen youth. The money saved in this way will go to perpetuate the memory of those fallen at Kruty. Now on the web-site www.kruty.org.ua there is voting on where to send the money saved. Among the variants are support of the museum of the fight at Kruty, the memorial on Askol'd’s grave, or the creation of a musical clip or documentary film. The tradition of fasting on January 29 was begun by senior plastuns in 1931. Then the money saved on meals was transferred to the fund for political prisoners.  Also on January 29 the Kyivan plast company called Heroes of Kruty will conduct a trip to the site of the events of 1918, the station Kruty, and area games for children of 11 to 18 years. At the same time, a recreation of the fight will take place in Lviv at the site of which plastuns will ride an improvised «train-tram Lviv – Kruty.» The action is directed at turning the attention of young people to the historical event, the deed of the youths who in January 1918 gave their life to protect the independence of Ukraine.   More detailed information is on the web-site www.kruty.org.ua.
