Patriarch Sviatoslav takes part in celebrations to mark tenth anniversary of Basilian Fathers’ return to Kyiv

Celebrations to mark the tenth anniversary of the Basilian Fathers’ return to Kyiv were held on October 30 in the church of St. Basil the Great in Kyiv. The festivities began with a Hierarchal Divine Liturgy, which was headed by Patriarch Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), primate of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
Celebrations to mark the tenth anniversary of the Basilian Fathers’ return to Kyiv were held on October 30 in the church of St. Basil the Great in Kyiv. The festivities began with a Hierarchal Divine Liturgy, which was headed by Patriarch Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), primate of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. During the sermon he congratulated “the monks of this holy monastery, who today celebrate ten years of restored monastic life of the Order of St. Basil the Great in the capital city of Kyiv.” The patriarch emphasized the word “restore” because we, according to him, are indeed returning “to the roots of the Kyivan Church.” “I congratulate on this occasion all the monks of the order and Protoarchimandrite of the Basilian Order Fr. Vasyl Kovbych.” The primate brought attention to what abundant fruits the prayer and the work of the Basilian Fathers in Kyiv has brought... In addition, Patriarch Sviatoslav congratulated the community of the Church of St. Basil the Great on its completion of its spiritual exercises – a retreats, which were led by Fr. Teodosii (Yankiv). Fr. Theodosius is responsible for restoring monastic life in Kyiv.
