According to the decision, the Lviv City Council will appeal to Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko and Parliament with a petition to initiate at the national level “the process of establishing historical justice in relation to the UGCC and acknowledging its status as repressed." "Thanks to the city’s initiative, the first step is done, but it is very important. I hope that this initiative of Lviv will be taken up by other cities, and a corresponding law will appear afterwards," the head of the Postulation Center of the UGCC, Fr. Roman Terekhovskyj, said. "Also, the decision foresees support and assistance in the rehabilitation of the UGCC, and also grants to it all possible privileges within the limits of current legislation," the assistant to the head of the city on humanitarian questions, Vasyl Kosiv, reported.
