Residents of the village Uhol'na, Lviv oblast, have built a chapel on the grounds where, one and a half months ago, a fire destroyed an ancient wooden church. Along with the newly built chapel, the villagers have been building a new church since 2006. The church of Saint Basil was burned down on Easter (April 19, 2009), in the first half of the day, as a result of a short circuit in the electrical system. Built in the XVIII century, the church held a great deal of architectural value for the region. As explained by Fr. Vasyl Fedorovych, pastor of the parish, “Vasyl Vasyliv, a local architect, designed the chapel, which measures sixty square meters. The chapel was blessed during the Green Holiday on June 7, 2009. It was financed and built by the parishioners who independently purchased the building materials. The wood was provided by the ‘lishosp’ of Stryj.”
