His Beatitude Sviatoslav: When the Church intrudes into politics, it loses

No priest has the right to glorify anyone, except God.  UGCC Head, His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), made this statement in view of the coming elections while visiting Kolomyia on August 19^th. According to His Beatitude Sviatoslav, “when the Church intrudes into politics, it always looses… Never does any political party, which attempts to endow the Church, leave it free,” underlined the UGCC Primate. Simultaneously, the UGCC Head noted that significant events in society are addressed by the Church in specific epistles to all people of good will.  The Church definitely urges all to vote in the elections since “it is a very important instance, when it is necessary to express one’s own responsibility as a citizen.” On Sunday in Kolomyia, His Beatitude Sviatoslav participated in the consecration the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the largest one in Western Ukraine.  The new cathedral can fit over 5,000 worshippers. Soon it will be complimented with a 65-meter high bell tower.
