His Beatitude Sviatoslav was vaccinated against coronavirus

In our opinion, there are three principles to consider when it comes to vaccination: it should be voluntary, accessible, and safe. This was stated by Father and Head of the UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav during a briefing after the vaccination of religious figures, which took place today, Tuesday, March 16, 2021, in Kyiv.

During the briefing, the Primate of the UGCC expressed his sincere respect for the physicians. According to him, today they deserve special prayer, attention and gratitude from all the Ukrainian people. His Beatitude Sviatoslav also asked to listen to the opinion of doctors when deciding on vaccination.

"It is very good that in a very short time humanity has at least such protection against the coronavirus. Obviously, this disease has not yet been fully studied. Vaccines are also undergoing some research. However, I can say that there is no religious reason to refuse vaccination.”

"On behalf of religious figures, we are grateful that at least the residual vaccine gave us the opportunity to receive protection against this disease," said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

Asked whether he personally had any doubts before the vaccination, His Beatitude Sviatoslav said: “Doubts are a good sign, because those who do not doubt do not move forward and do not seek the truth. The believer has the right to doubt, then he has a reason to seek the Truth.

According to him, for some reason Ukrainians have a lot of "distrust of everyone and everything." In this way, our people are manifesting themselves as a post-genocidal nation, which is just emerging from the post-colonial syndrome.

"Trust in physicians today should come first, especially now. The issue of safe vaccine production is in the center of attention of the world community. All vaccines are in the emergency phase. We still don't know much about the virus itself and the vaccine. However, this should not be a reason to fall into any irrational fears," the Father and Head of the UGCC emphasized.

"I wish everyone to be healthy; I wish we could overcome the disease as soon as possible, so that it no longer spreads and does not take the lives of our relatives and friends. Let our today's event be a step towards victory over this invisible enemy," the spiritual leader of Ukrainians said in conclusion.
