The Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church His Beatitude Sviatoslav on the holiday of the Ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ introduced into the government the newly elected hegumen of Univ Holy Dormition Lavra - the celebate priest Illya (Ivan Mamchak).

"Today I came to this holy monastery, to solemnly and prayerfully introduce into the government a newly elected hegumen of Univ Holy Dormition Lavra, the new prior and spiritual father of our Studite monasticism. Interestingly Lord God brought so that the act of administration happens on the Ascension... "- said the Head of the church during the sermon to the faithful.

"Father Superior - addressed His Beatitude to celibate priest Illya - today you have to show all your brethren that we all together wish the Most High. Dying for the world every day, you follow Christ".

"Let us ask the Lord God of all grace for our monkhood, ask Him this power of the Holy Spirit, which we expect - the Spirit, who renews the face of the earth, the Spirit who heals the wounds, raises the fallen and glorifies the humble. Let the grace of the Holy Spirit rests on the brotherhood of the monastery. Let our risen Savior one day meet us all at the right hand of God the Father, into which today He comes in glory in heaven"- said the Head of the Church.

Let us recall, on 23 April, 2015 was elected the hegumen of Univ Holy Dormitory Lavra. According to the minutes of the elections that were held on the basis of the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches, Typicon and the election сode, as the hegumen of Univ Holy Dormition Lavra was chosen the celebate priest Illya (Ivan Mamchak).
