A nationwide pilgrimage of UGCC clergy to Peremyshliany dedicated to the memory of the Blessed Omelyan Kovch will be held on May 11, 2012. During the pilgrimage, His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), head of the UGCC, will consecrate the monument to Blessed Omelyan Kovch. In this regard in Lviv, on May 8, 2012, a press conference was held. Ivan Ivasyunyk talked about the concept of the monument, noting that the Lviv architect Volodymyr Odrykhivsky worked on the project. In addition, Ivasynyk thanked all the donors, who are representatives of three nationalities – Ukrainian, Polish and Jewish, who contributed to this project. It should be noted for two consecutive years the Committee to Commemorate the Blessed Martyr Omelyan Kovch awards people who dedicated their lives to charity and work for other people. In addition, the Lviv regional council last year also launched an award in honor of Omelyan Kovch. Representatives of the UGCC and the Committee to Commemorate the Blessed Martyr Omelyan Kovch invited clergy and laity to take part in the nationwide pilgrimage. The pilgrimage starts at 9:30 a.m. with a memorial service to commemorate the holy martyr in the Church of St. Nicholas, which will be led by the Blessed Sviatoslav together with bishops of the UGCC. The Hierarchical Divine Liturgy will begin at 11:00 a.m.
