Head of the UGCC on Mother's Day: Every child remembers their mother’s touch forever

His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, greeted all mothers with Mother's Day during the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ.

"Today we celebrate Mother's Day – the feast of the dearest person in our lives. I sincerely congratulate all the mothers of Ukraine, who, perhaps, are now experiencing their identity in a special way. Today let every mother give herself an answer to what it means to be a mother,” said the preacher.

Your child, whom the Lord God gives you, he says, by touching your body begins to learn the world he is coming into. Your own personality is a way of knowing, experiencing this world for your child.

St Pope John Paul II said that our body, like the body of the risen Savior, is the sacrament of the presence of a person in this material and visible world. "The body is not a thing. Our body is the road. The road to the meeting. I think every child remembers their mother's touch forever. Psychologists say that our body has its own memory of its mother," said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

"I would very much like," the Primate emphasized, "so that through that experience of touching the mother, every child can feel the presence of the risen Savior among us. Because every mother must open the door to her child's life not only in this visible, material, limited world. She must pass on her experience of faith to her daughter or son and lead them to eternal life.”

“May this motherly heart be the way to eternal life for every child, so that together we may rejoice that future generations will receive the gospel message and that the words with which the evangelist concludes his story may come true in our lives. Here are the words: ‘These things are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name,’” the spiritual leader wished everyone.
