Head of the UGCC: Myroslav Skoryk was able to hear the Ukrainian soul

Myroslav Skoryk's "Melody" is a manifestation of the genetic melody of our nation. He heard the melody of the Ukrainian soul at a time when that soul was crying because it was enslaved and despised, but it never stopped singing.

This was said by His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the UGCC, during the Memorial Service in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ of the UGCC.

"Today," says the Head of the UGCC, "every Ukrainian heart is experiencing the sorrow of deep loss. The Lord called to the house of Heavenly Father a great son of the Ukrainian nation, our brother, collaborator, but above all a man who will forever go down in the history of Ukrainian culture as someone who was able to hear the Ukrainian soul.

"His ‘Melody,’ which will always bear his name, is a manifestation of the genetic melody of our nation. He heard it in those days when this soul was enslaved, humiliated, but it never stopped singing. This melody, like a reflection of the heavenly reality, will always sound here, among us," emphasized the Primate of the UGCC.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav asked that, following the example of Myroslav Skoryk, we should never close our ears and hearts to this song, which is heard from the depths of the soul of our nation, and today, together with him, goes from earth to heaven.

“We were close acquaintances with Mr. Skoryk and organized many different projects. He performed his glorious ‘Melody’ before Pope John Paul II. He also conducted a symphony orchestra in Rome for Pope Benedict, performing this composition," he shared.

"When I am asked today how to understand the Ukrainian soul, I tell everyone: listen to the ‘Melody’ by Myroslav Skoryk. This ‘Melody’ is understood in all countries and in all cultures,” added the Father and Head of the UGCC.

"Today we pray that the Lord God will receive him into His heavenly embrace. Today he plays his ‘Melody’ before the throne of our Heavenly Father,” said the Primate of the UGCC.
