Head of the UGCC asked the faithful to pray for God’s blessing on the eve of the elections

“I invite you all today and every day before the presidential elections of Ukraine in your prayers to very cordially ask the Lord for the best fate for our state. God loves us, God wants good for us, and we, from our side, with prayer express our faith, conviction that we are in God’s hands,” said His Beatitude Lubomyr in his sermon for the feast of the Holy Mother of God. The request of the head of the UGCC was initiated by the World Federation of Ukrainian Woman Organizations. This organization which unites the different Ukrainian woman associations appealed to the bishops with a request that on the day of the Holy Mother of God, when we glorify the Mother of Jesus Christ, to especially remember Ukraine in prayers. “We know that in our tradition a woman is often portrayed as the preserver of the hearth. Sometimes there is the impression that a woman cares only about the hearth, about her family, about her relatives. But we see that in our nation there are those women who are not bound only to the necessities of their little hearth, but think about whole state and ask us to pray for our state, especially on the eve of such an important event as the elections of the president,” said the head of the UGCC. This request his Beatitude Lubomyr called a wonderful initiative. “We have to be thankful to this organization which invites us, reminds us that we need to work, to try, and also to pray,” the preacher marked. “Let’s thank those good women who thought about the whole state and together with them pray, let’s entrust in the Lord the fate of our nation,” said His Beatitude Lubomyr in conclusion.
