Head of Church: “That man who raises a hand against unborn children, kills the future of Ukraine and our people”

We desire to solemnly proclaim the dignity of the Ukrainian family, dignity and rights of Ukraine’s children. Any attempts to equate marriage between a man and a woman with other kinds of co-living, is a discrimination of the family. That person, who raises a hand against unborn children, kills the future of Ukraine and our people.

This was said by the Head and Father of the UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav in European Square in Kyiv on June 4, at the completion of the Inter-Parish Procession for protecting rights of children and family.

We would like to add that in Kyiv there was a march of protection for the rights of family and children. It was initiated by the all-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations. The aim of this action is to draw attention to the problems of protecting the rights of children, reaffirm in the society the principles of love and respect, and speak out in defence of family as a bond between a man and a woman which corresponds God’s plan and human nature. More than 5 thousand believers joined the rally. After the procession, in European Square, members of the all-Ukrainian Council of Churches appealed to its participants, stressing the significance of family and rights of unborn children.

The UGCC Department of Information
