On October 27, 2002, His Beatitude Lubomyr Husar, together with ten other bishops from Ukraine and abroad, consecrated the cornerstone at the site of the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ of the UGCC in Kyiv.

From that moment, the construction of the church and the residence of the Patriarchal Center of the UGCC in the capital of Ukraine began, where, according to the decision of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC, on August 21, 2005 the seat of the Head of the Church was moved.

The cornerstone of the Patriarchal Cathedral was immediately built into one of the columns of the church. The message on the granite plaque, which symbolized our return to the land of Volodymyr's baptism and our aspiration for patriarchy, reads: "To glorify the Holy Trinity, in honor of the Apostles Peter and Paul and the patrons of Kyiv, Archangel Michael and St. Pope Clement I ... the cornerstone of the Patriarchal Cathedral was solemnly laid in the capital city of Kyiv ..."
