During a visit by UGCC pastors and volunteers to the Pryluky Correctional Colony, two detainees were baptized

Together with volunteers from Kyiv, Rev. Konstiantyn Pantetepey, director of the UGCC Department of Pastoral Services for the Ukrainian Penitentiary System, and Rev. Roman Pushka, met with juvenile detainees at Pryluky Correctional Colony on March 24, 2012. They explained to the youth the significance of the Great Lenten Holy Cross Week and together recited the prayers of the Stations of the Cross. Two detainees of the colony then accepted the Sacrament of Baptism, according to volunteers Nadia Shtohryn and Ihor Klymonchuk. The volunteers noted that this effort was an attempt to help those with whom “one does not always have the opportunity to share love since a cement wall entwined by a barbed wire separates us.”  “Although we also often offend God by our sins, it is nevertheless very good that we could contemplate together with the colony detainees the Stations of the Cross and our own role in it,” shared the organizers of the effort.
