Conference of monasticism took place in Yaremche monastery

For the occasion of the proclamation of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC of the year 2010 as God’s Year of Christian Vocation with a special emphasis on the vocation to consecrated life, on February 8, 2010, representatives of monastic communities and congregations from the areas of the Kolomyja-Chernivtsi Eparchy gathered in the monastery of Yaremcha.
For the occasion of the proclamation of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC of the year 2010 as God’s Year of Christian Vocation with a special emphasis on the vocation to consecrated life, on February 8, 2010, representatives of monastic communities and congregations from the areas of the Kolomyja-Chernivtsi Eparchy gathered in the monastery of Yaremcha. The program foresaw a conference devoted to the beginning of Lent and the Day of Consecrated Life, which is traditionally celebrated by the Holy Church on the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple. In the work of the conference took part Bishop Mykolay (Simkaylo), the eparch of Kolomyja-Chernivtsi. The conference started with the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy, which was led by Bishop Mykolay. In the sermon he stressed the “special ministry of monastic communities, which is displayed in both prayer life and the wide evangelization-catechetical work with young people and all faithful.”  At the completion of the Divine Liturgy the bishop congratulated the participants of the conference and handed every community memorable rewards of the 20th anniversary of the UGCC’s emergence from the underground and the beginning of its legal activity.
