On the invitation of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Belgium, Y. Eks. Eugene Bersheda, the children of two Ukrainian schools of Antwerp and Brussels, and also teachers and parents, visited the Embassy of Ukraine. This was the first event of its kind, which was specially organized by the Ukrainian Ambassador for the children of these Ukrainian schools in Belgium.
The ambassador received the children in the meeting hall of the embassy, where important conferences with the participation of high state officials usually take place. The children showed a great interest and liveliness during the exchange with the ambassador of Ukraine and his wife. The ambassador in an understandable way explained the structure and task of the embassy to the children, answered the children’s questions, and gave every child a memorable gift. On the occasion of the invitation of the children to the embassy, Apostolic Exarch for Ukrainians of France, Benelux, and Switzerland Reverend Bishop Mikhail (Hrynchyshyn), wrote a special letter in which he expressed “heartfelt greetings for the fortunate and blessed initiative of Ukrainian schools in Antwerp and Brussels.” The bishop noted the special importance of science, education, and knowledge for children, and the study of the Ukrainian language and the rich traditions of our people. Communication continued in the hall of official delegations where the embassy covered the tables with sweets. As the children were enjoying the treats, the administration of the Ukrainian schools of Antwerp and Brussels and parents of the children were able to converse with the Ambassador of Ukraine in Belgium, his wife, counsellor of the Embassy Oleksandr Moroz, and workers of the consular department.
