CF "Caritas-Kyiv", on the eve of the Feast of Epiphany, organized the Holy Supper for 80 children who are in need

"On the 18th of January 2013, CF "Caritas Kyiv" once again organized a Holy Supper for children who are in need, including children and young people who live on the streets, children of the crisis and low-income families, disabled children, children who were deprived of parental care and children with large families. This year, there were more than 80 people at the supper, and this is considerably more than the previous year, "- reports the director of CF "Caritas Kyiv", Fr. Roman Syrotych.

The feast started with the puppet show for children, which was performed by the students of the Kyiv National University of Theatre, Film and Television named after Ivan Karpenko-Kary.

After that, the children, who are under the ward of CF "Caritas Kyiv" and, who are coming to Caritas Social Centre, performed the Nativity Play, glorifying the newborn Christ.

The Holy Supper started with the common prayer and the welcoming speech of the Director CF "Caritas Kyiv", who wished everyone God's grace, peace, love, and expressed the great joy, because on this day, there is an opportunity to share the common meal and to feel the spirit of Christmas while being all together.

Everybody proceeded to the consumption of the traditional, for the Ukrainian Holy Supper table, dishes –kutya, pampushky, varenyky and holubtsi, borshch and cabbage, fish and other dishes. Warm family atmosphere was all around, the atmosphere, which those children do not have at home, because part of them does not even have homes.

"It was touching to watch the children, for a number of whom it was the first time to attend such a Holy Supper. Yes, they do not know how to behave, because it is generally unknown for them. However, even regardless of that, they feel love and kindness, which is expressed towards them. They are very grateful, though, perhaps, it is not always that they know how to express this gratitude, because nobody has ever been grateful to them just for the fact that they are", - says Fr. Roman Syrotych.

Finally, all children were presented with the gifts, sweets and books, and some even brought dish from the Holy Supper with them.

Heavy- handed, with warm hearts, with smiling faces and with the words of gratitude, everyone went away reluctantly, leaving the Social Center of Caritas, where for several hours they were feeling good, happy and in a family way warm.

It is due to this, that dozens of children felt their usefulness and joy, and experienced the atmosphere of family warmth.
