Celebration of Independence Day in Moldova

For the special occasion of Independence Day on Augusts 23, 2009, in the UGCC church “Veil of Holiest Mother of God” located in the city of Chisinau (Moldova), a festive Divine Liturgy took place. After prayers for the Ukrainian nation, a sermon on the topic of Independence Day was delivered. Afterwards, celebrations continued in the courtyard of the Ukrainian Embassy where there was the raising of the Ukrainian flag and a speech given by the Mikhail Kharyshyn, director of the Ukrainian Embassy. Additionally, various public organizations gathered in front of the “Kobzar” monument to lay down flowers. At the monument, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova, S. Pirozhkov, greeted the gathered representatives. The festivities concluded with a concert.
