Catechetical missions for Ukrainian immigrants in Spain held in Madrid

At the invitation of the Apostolic Visitor for Ukrainians in Italy and Spain, Bishop Dionisiy (Lyakhovych), and pastor of Madrid Fr. Ivan Lypka, the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission and the Catechetical-Pedagogical Institute held a series of events for Ukrainian immigrants in Madrid from November 4-6, 2011.
At the invitation of the Apostolic Visitor for Ukrainians in Italy and Spain, Bishop Dionisiy (Lyakhovych), and pastor of Madrid Fr. Ivan Lypka, the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission and the Catechetical-Pedagogical Institute held a series of events for Ukrainian immigrants in Madrid from November 4-6, 2011. The first event was a meeting with principals and teachers of Ukrainian Saturday schools, which was held in Madrid, in the parish of the Annunciation. In Madrid and its outskirts there are 5 schools, with a total of 400 children. At the meeting, the Christian education of children and youth in the Ukrainian communities of Spain was discussed. Principals described the difficulties faced in learning and education, and expressed their expectations of the Catechetical Commission and Catechetical Institute of UCU. Then Sister Luiza Tsiupa and Nazar Duda conducted trainings for teens in the Ukrainian parish school in Madrid, which was attended by more than 80 high school students, and in the Ukrainian school in Alcala, which was attended by 35 high school students and teachers. The topic of the trainings was "Values ​​of Life."

As part of the biblical apostolate, Fr. Taras Barshevsky held a meeting for catechists about the importance of reading the Scriptures, during which the foundations of prayer reading in the church community and family were presented. Afterwards, there was a lecture on the importance of teaching God's Word in the Christian life.After Sunday services, which was attended by the Madrid Community, the Catechism of the UGCC "Christ is Our Easter” was presented.  The Catechism was presented by Taras Barshchevsky and Sister Luiza Tsiupa.
