Book ‘Children of immigrants about themselves” presented in Lviv

The presentation of the book “Children of immigrants about themselves,” which is part of a general project of non-government foundations, civic organizations, the Church and the state, on the study of the problem of Ukraine immigration and work migration, took place in Lviv. More than 50 works of children of migrant workers from the western regions of Ukraine and also immigrants from Portugal, Bulgaria, Russia and Italy are included in the publication. According to the head of the competitive commission, Ihor Kalynets’, more than 150 works came addressed to the project. “The children write fairy-tales, confessions, poetry, philosophical reflections and even plays in which the pain of lonely hearts pours forth. The works testify that the tragedy of families of Ukrainian workers is of a much larger scale than we could imagine,” said the organizers. At the round table «The newest immigration: Problems of social and national orphans,» participants of the presentation discussed the problems of national and social orphans, born because of the «fourth wave» of Ukrainian immigration. The discussion involved features of the psychological, emotional and social status of children of the families, the problems of the adaptation of the children of Ukrainian immigrants to foreign environments, and their maintaining their national identity. The presentation was complemented by an exhibition of works of student youth who took part in a competition of artistic posters on the migration theme, “The Ukrainian heart, generous to Ukraine and the world!».  The book "Children of immigrants about themselves" will be presented in all regions of Ukraine.
