Bishop Mykola Bychok paid a pastoral visit to the Sumivska Oselia in Buxton, Victoria, Australia

On November 21, Bishop Mykola Bychok, Eparch of Melbourne, paid a pastoral visit to the Sumivska Oselia in Buxton, Victoria, where a chapel was consecrated two years ago in honour of St. Michael the Archangel. It was on this occasion that the bishop led the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy with the co-service of Deacon Mykhailo Kaminsky. It is worth noting that this year the prayer was attended by Mr. Mykola Kulinych, Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia, with his wife Olena Kulinich and many faithful from the state of Victoria.

Preaching to the people of God, the bishop emphasized: “The holy angels have a double task: concerning the Lord God and men. The main task of the angels in heaven is to glorify the Lord God forever and to serve Him zealously and quickly. As for humans, angels are God’s guardians and guardians. The Church convincingly affirms that everyone has a Guardian Angel who cares for the person the Lord has entrusted to them. Continuing the sermon on the occasion of the feast of St. Michael the Archangel, the bishop said: “Reflections on the history of today’s feast delay our attention to the words of Archangel Michael “Who is like God”, with whom he entered into a struggle against evil angels. These words remain relevant to Christians today. They can be a test of the vitality of our faith in God and should be like a spiritual motto and slogan of the spiritual life of every Christian. Thanks today to Archangel Michael, who bravely sided with God’s truth, who showed unwavering faithfulness and great trust in God and thus defeated the rebellious and unfaithful angels”.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Mykola sincerely thanked all the people of SUM for the chapel built, as well as the people for their presence and their prayer. Afterwards, lunch and fellowship with the faithful took place.
