At Easter the Head of the UGCC spoke about Easter joy

On the occasion of the glorious feast of the Resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the Head of the UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav presided the Resurrection Matins and solemn Divine Liturgy in the church of St. Basil the Great in Kyiv. Joining him were Most Rev. Bohdan (Dzyurakh) – Secretary of the Synod of Bishops and Most Rev. Josyf (Milian) – Auxiliary Bishop of Kyiv Archeparchy as well as numerous clergy and faithful. At the Liturgy was also present His Beatitude Lubomyr, Major Archbishop retired. The Easter Service was broadcasted live by the First National Chanel (UT-1). In his sermon the Primate of the Greek Catholics spoke about an indispensible attribute of Easter celebration – Easter joy. “Today from the mouth of the risen Saviour we hear the words directed to each of us: my son, my daughter – I will never leave you! This Easter joy is the joy of someone who has been hopeless and found the fullness of hope”- said the Head of the UGCC. On that day the church of St. Basil the Great in the capital of Ukraine was overcrowded with hundreds of faithful who came to worship in traditional embroidered shirts with the Easter mood. “This is just a fantastic night. I think that everyone who participated tonight in this Vigil Service got a huge amount of positive energy that all of us need so much”- said in his commentary to the News Channel “24” National Artist of Ukraine Bohdan Beniuk. On Bright Monday, April 25, His Beatitude Sviatoslav celebrated together with Bishop Bohdan (Dzyurakh) and Bishop Josyf (Milian) a Pontifical Divine Liturgy in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ on the occasion of the Parish Feast day.
