Archbishop of Lviv visits Oath Ceremony on the Day of the Rescuer

On September 17, 2010, Bishop Ihor (Voznyak), Archbishop of Lviv of the UGCC, visited the swearing-in ceremony of students of the Lviv State University of Life Safety of the Emergency Ministry of Ukraine.  To continue their service with honor, 200 students, including 26 girls, took the oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine. The ceremony was attended by top officials of the city and of the Emergency Ministry. Bishop Ihor in his congratulatory word stated that the elements fire, water, wind, and earth, often threaten lives and that the rescuers carry such a large responsibility. “Since great courage, ability, and skill are needed to contest with the elements, training must be rigorous and you all are duty-bound by the oath,” said the archbishop. After the general prayer, a parade of personnel and performances of students were held.
