An exhibit of artistic works by prisoners will be opened in Kyiv during the Feast of the Transfiguration

The Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, through the support of the State Criminal Justice Services of Ukraine, will be holding an exhibit entitled “Transfiguration through God’s Love.” The goal of the exhibition is to convey a message to society from fellow citizens who are currently imprisoned and to educate the public about the prison pastoral services offered by the Church. About 300 selected works, created by prisoners from penitentiaries located all over Ukraine, will be featured in the exhibit.
The Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, through the support of the State Criminal Justice Services of Ukraine, will be holding an exhibit entitled “Transfiguration through God’s Love.” The goal of the exhibition is to convey a message to society from fellow citizens who are currently imprisoned and to educate the public about the prison pastoral services offered by the Church. About 300 selected works, created by prisoners from penitentiaries located all over Ukraine, will be featured in the exhibit. The exhibit, taking place through the patronage of His Beatitude Lubomyr, will allow for the national selection of works that will go on to compete in the International Competition of Fine Art by the Imprisoned and Convicted in Berlin. Its theme will be “Through the Eyes of Others.” During the Feast of the Transfiguration, 50 best works from Ukraine will be selected by artist judges, that will compete in the 2009 September finale. The opening of exhibition is scheduled for August 19, 2009 at 10:00 am in the Church of Saint Basil the Great, a Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church. Address: 7 Voznesens’kyj uzviz (Lviv square).
