About the construction of the Patriarchal Cathedral in winter

“In these days, the making of the special suspended scaffolding into the cathedral was completed. Work on installing internal elements with glass-fiber-concrete, which are joined into one with the internal shell of the central dome, began recently (this shell was set in its place in January of this year, – aut.).” So Fr. Petro Fedyuk, CSSR, reported for the Information Department of the UGCC; the assistant of the director general of the building administration for the Patriarch of the UGCC was talking about the building of the Patriarchal Center in winter. In addition, Fr. Petro noted that the winter cold, in accord with building techniques, did not allow the conduct of other work at that time. "As soon as weather conditions will match necessary standards, we above all will continue facade work from the mark 13.2 m and higher, on the level of the central vault of the church, its pylon parts. After the completion of this the scaffolding will be dismantled and the roof work of the central vault of the Patriarchal Cathedral with specially treated (already a green color) copper which was previously bought will start," the assistant of the general director continued. As Bishop Bohdan (Dzyurakh), head of the supervisory council for the construction of the Patriarchal Center reported during a regular meeting of the Committee on the Construction of the Patriarchal Center of the UGCC, in general in 2009 it is planned to execute work totaling approximately 13 million hryvnias. In particular necessary measures for adjusting the plumbing and sewage system, electricity, ventilation and conditioning, heating and heat supplying will be executed. In addition, in this year it is planned to complete fully the facade work.
