“A sin against the unity of Church is one of the greatest sins in Church, personal and Christian life”, His Beatitude Sviatoslav

The Head of the UGCC pointed at a special feature of today’s extract from the Gospel, where the dialogue between the persons of the Holy Trinity is being held. The Hierarchical Prayer of Jesus Christ reveals an inner life of the Holy Trinity.

Today the Church is commemorating the Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council which promulgated Symbol of Faith (Creed) and affirmed faith in the deity of Jesus Christ. The Head of the UGCC mentioned that a resolution of any Church council is not imposed by the majority or minority as it tends to happen in the Parliament or other democratic institutions a person lives in.

“During the last meeting of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC Pope Francis reminded us that it is not enough to have the Synod, it is important to be such. Since it is not a Parliament but a moment of listening to the Holy Ghost and its power penetrates the participants gathered around. The Unity of the Church is the icon of unity of the persons of the Holy Trinity”, added His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

In his homily the Head of the UGCC also reminded that this year the Church commemorates 425 years since the Union of Brest. He emphasized: “not so much with words as with the power of the Holy Spirit we have to affirm that there is one God, one faith and one baptism, as apostle Paul tells us”.
